Day 63: Glass Tile - Part 1 (Tile Placement)
We lost a couple of more days due to rain here, but I think we are still on schedule...even ahead possibly. The glass tile masons were scheduled to be here on Saturday and they were....bright and early! It seems EVERYONE in this business starts at 7am. Which is nice, get in and get out. I was going to go with a basic 2x2 blue and gold tile which looked nice, until I spoke to my plasterer. I should also explain that my plaster guy is also my neighbor so I know he will be upfront and honest. After seeing his pool build I noticed his glass tiles and started to ask questions. He showed me a few samples and suggested a blue tile since I was going with Prism Blue Pebble Sheen. I agreed with him and he ordered the tile for me. Tile came in Wednesday and his crew was out on Saturday to install them. They will be back Monday (yes Memorial Day) to do the grout and then one more thing is done!
All the glass tile came packaged in these meat trays. I guess that's why you pay so much in shipping!
The glass tile wraps around the grotto but stops before it goes in. No need for all the bling inside the cave.
I am looking forward to seeing the Pebble Sheen in the pool to compliment the newly installed glass tile.
Alright, one more thing checked off the list. Tommy from Pebble Pools will be back on Tuesday to install a Jandy Levolor automatic pool fill in the skimmer. I never considered an automatic pool filler so I am glad Pebble runs the line even if you don't ask for it.
So Tommy will install the pool filler Tuesday and the electrician will come and hook everything up Wednesday. After that we are done with with the pool!!!!!!! All that is left is running the propane to the fire bowls and doing the patio and landscaping.
And herein lies the problem. I think I am going to switch the patio over to pavers from exposed aggregate. If I do decide to go that way the process will be pushed about a month and the price will obviously go up significantly. So I am not sure where I want to go with the decking...pavers or exposed aggregate......decisions, decisions....
