Day 64: Glass Tile - Part 2 (Grout)

Day 64: Glass Tile - Part 2 (Grout)

All the other processes to this point have been long and drawn out. The digging, rebar, masonry, etc. but the tile.....now that went fast! The masons (never got the guys names) were in and out of here. They took about 6 hours to lay the tile on Saturday. They came back today and had all the grout done in about two hours. And it looks FANTASTIC! I am glad Brad (Poolside Plastering) talked me into going with the glass tile.

We decided to go with grey grout. It blends in better with this project plus its easier to keep clean then white.

These colors are perfect. They change as the sun goes past them and blend perfectly with the natural stone coping around the pool.

  1. What is the brand and the name of this tile?

  2. It is made by Lightstreams. I believe it is made specifically to use with Pebble Tec/Sheen/Fina plaster. The color is Blue Steel.

    Good luck!

  3. This tile is beautiful! We are in the process of designing a pool ourselves, and I would love to use this tile. I went to the Lightstreams website and found the product, but I only see square tiles. Was this a special request to get the subway tile shape? I'd love to know the dimensions of the tiles, if you wouldn't mind sharing. Your pool is beautiful, and I've found your blog extremely helpful in knowing what to expect from this process! Thank you!

  5. Hello and thanks for the compliments! I am not sure if this tile is offered anymore? It wasn't a special order or anything. The same company that did the Pebble Sheen finish did the tile work. They just gave me a number of samples to choose from and I chose the Blue Steel.

    Sorry I couldn't help more.

  6. What color finish did you do in your pool?

  7. Also curious as to the Color PebbleTec or Pebble Sheen finish you wound up using? I chose a similar tile color scheme called Volcanic and it has more of a steel blue and metallic tile mix....thinking I need to use Pebble over Diamond Brite, to achieve correct pool color. Thank you in advance!
