A Hazy Shade Of Winter

So we ended up closing the pool the day after Halloween. Yup, we kept it open through October since it didn't get too cold yet. Although there was a morning or two when I woke up and the pumps were running in freeze protection mode.

Well the pool was closed and here in the Northeast we had one of the most brutal winters in a while with a total of 65+ inches of snow. The average for our area is about 20 inches or so all winter. So yeah, this one kicked our butts! But fortunately the pool came out of it without a scratch. After it was frozen it took me a couple of weeks to work up the courage, but I took a walk into the grotto (pictures below).

Let it snow...

Thw snow finally subsides (from this storm) and the sun comes out. Just in time to melt all the ice off the trees!

Only so much furniture would fit in my basement. What was left got covered by the snow. You can tell how deep it was in this picture.

There is a grotto back there somewhere.
Hey, there it is. Frozen!

Figured I had to inspect it, but there was nothing to see. Well except for that crack in the ice right below me. Eeek!

Needless to say I didn't stay in there for too long.

The temperature doesn't look like its rising much, but the sun is definitely helping melt the snow.

And Zoey can finally get back into her yard. She is a happy girl!
Zoey investigates her yard now that the snow is melting.

Time to exhaust all that pent up energy from being in the house all winter!
Here comes the sun....someone should use that in a song

The spring finally starts to show it's pretty little face. And it's almost time to party again! I think we need a new sign though.
