Raise the roof!
Four months later and we finally have a roof! Like the rest of the project I met with a number of contractors for this project. The winners were
Country Lane Gazebo over in Lancaster, PA. Nothing like the Amish for these kinds of projects! Wow, the guy I was working with (Dave Stoltzfus) was fantastic and had a few great suggestions.
Most of the roof was pre-manufactured in their warehouse. When they showed up the entire thing was wrapped up and on the back of a truck. It essentially was a kit custom made for this project. They got to the house around 8am and they were gone by 3pm! There must have been a half of dozens guys and they worked! They all knew exactly what their role was and they all accomplished it well with little direction. It was actually entertaining watching all these guys work!
When the roof was up I noticed a scratch in one of the columns. I called up Dave and let him know. Within a week he had the crew back out to fix the problem. I called Dave a month later because I needed some additional stain and screws to match the finish. Within a week I had a package from UPS with a quart of stain and a couple of dozen screws that matched what was already used.
Country Lane Gazebo was a great company to work with and I plan on using them for a couple of other projects that I have planned down the line.

You can see the roof kit wrapped up and coming off of the truck |
The roof is unwrapped and.....well doesn't look like anything quite yet. |
The crew starts to layout all the materials on the patio |
And it starts! The guys put the first piece into place. |
As I said everyone had their job and they all knew what to do. They didn't need much direction. |
We have a frame! |
That's a good way to access the roof. Put your ladders in the water! Fortunately with the swim up bar landing right there it worked out perfect for them! |
As I drove to work I could see them working on the bar from the road. Very nice! |
At this point they are about 5 hours into this project. Yup, only 5 hours to get the roof up! |
All that's left is the leak protection and the shingles and we are DONE! |
And we have some shade to drink under. Whoo Hoo!! Now all we need is a bar! |
