The Tale of The Hidden Mickey

The Tale of The Hidden Mickey

Hidden Mickey - A Hidden Mickey is a representation of Mickey Mouse that has been inserted subtly into the design of a ride, attraction, or other location in a Disney theme park, Disney properties, movie or other Disney product. The most common Hidden Mickey is a formation of three circles that may be perceived as the silhouette of the head and ears of Mickey Mouse, often referred to by Disney aficionados as a "Classic Mickey".

Here are a few examples of Hidden Mickeys around the Walt Disney World Parks:

You can even find Hidden Mickey's in the Disney films. They are everywhere!

As you can see there are Hidden Mickeys everywhere! So I found the need to introduce one into this little project of ours.

After speaking with Brad at Poolside Plastering he suggested creating one freehand out of a black Pebble Sheen material. Then spraying around it with the Prism Blue that I chose. You can see the free hand Mickey head that Brad made out of black Pebble Sheen here:

Perfect lil Mickey Head to compliment the pool!

Unfortunately when I returned home from work Brad told me the lil fella above didn't make it. They tried to be very careful when spraying around it, but regardless it turned into a smear of what was once a beautiful little Mickey head.....very disheartening. Shane from Pebble Pools Inc (ironically based in Orlando, FL) had suggested getting a few small round tiles and making a Mickey head out of those. So I figured when I had to drain the pool for the winter we would try to work something in there. BUT as Brad and I were talking Shane made a FANTASTIC discovery......my iPad case!!!

As I am standing there talking to Brad holding my iPad, Shane comes up and gives it a tap. He wants MY Mickey Head!! Well, its the least I can do! So I hand my iPad case over to Brad and he flicks the Mickey Head right off of it!
My now Mickey-less iPad case.

And there it is.....all this while I was walking around with exactly what we needed to make this happen.
Shane & Brad jump back in the pool and start to work their magic:

And when all was said and done my lil Mickey Head found its new home. Right on the front of the first bar stool at the pool bar.. Could there have been a better spot to set him?!

And there he sits hopefully for decades to come!
