Day 1: Breaking Ground (YAY!)

Day 1: Breaking Ground!

The time has come! You can almost see the paint outline and rebar in the photos below. There may be snow on the ground, but we're looking at the big picture here!

Again, I have no idea how these guys see such a finished picture when their looking at a snow covered backyard.

Feel free to click on any of the pictures to enlarge them.

You can see the Tony in the bottom of the picture with the blueprints, Branch is on the right and that is Tommy back there getting ready to work his magic!

You can see the septic system that we're working around outlined in caution tape.
That's Mark in the bulldozer. That is where Mark will spend the majority of his time. Take care of THESE guys! They work their behinds off!

Once we returned home from work we saw the start of a massive hole in our ground. Floyd will not like this!

You can start to see the form of the pool. On the left side you can see the bar starting to form and on the right side you can see how tall the retaining wall will be.

That's a lot of good top soil! The house was built on an old farm so the first layer of soil was pretty good. Notice I said the first layer of soil, more of that to come.

I can not believe how much they do by hand. As impressive as it is watching those three guys dig by hand, I was floored when I saw them do all of the rebar by hand also. WOW!

So this is where we stand after the first day. Snow is gone and a hole is starting to form. Little by little you can start to see a pool in there.
