Week 1: The Bar Build - Block Work
Alright, lets start this thing! The first day consisted of laying out the cinder block and getting a general template. Neil will be doing the masonry work for the job. Like all the other contractors from Sal's Landscaping Neil is nothing but professional. He is a great guy that loves fishing, you gotta see the swordfish he caught! Damn!

For
the folks that forget what last years bar looked like, there it is in
all of its ghettoness! Can't talk trash though, that little fella did a
great job last season. But out with the old and in with the new!! |

Wow, that's a lot of cinder block! |

Now you can see something! You're looking at where the sink will set along side an ice chest. The cutouts are for the access doors, towel holder and drawers. This is also where our rescue pup Zoey got herself into some trouble (You can read about Zoey's story here). You can't see it now but one of the masons finished their chicken sandwich and tossed the roll in a hole behind the bar. See where that PVC pipe is sticking out of the hole on the left there. Yeah, it was in there and Zoey wasn't letting it go. She eventually got to it, but not before getting covered with liquid nails! Did I mentioned I had just picked her up from the groomer no less! Yeah, she had liquid nails stuck to her fur for almost a month before her next grooming session. But she got her chicken sandwich so she could have cared less! You can read more about Zoey and her story here. |
