Day 89: Decking - Day 9 - Pavers Are Done!!

Day 89: Decking - Day 9 - Pavers Are Done!!

It's Friday and it's a beauty! Since its such a beautiful day everyone came out to work! Of course Brad's crew is back to work on the hardscaping, but working alongside them was Joe Lyons electricians, Al's crew for the plumbing and propane, Bob and his crew are back to finish up some masonry work on the bar top and paint the top of the grotto. On top of that Brad from Poolside Plastering came to check the progress so he can start his magic Monday, and Steve Harris came out to price some work for bar cabinets. Whew, I can't wait until this is all over!!

After the granite guys came over (Colonial Granite in King Of Prussia) to template they let me know the bar top would have to be lifted a few inches and leveled. The granite is an inch and a quarter thick and the bar top sat about 5 inches below the coping at one end and 3 inches below on the other end. So I called Branch from Pebble Pools and the first reaction was "that's the granite guys job." So back on the phone with the granite guys. Demetrius from Colonial Granite gave me a call that night and explained why they wouldn't be able to lift the granite that high. The granite would simply be too heavy for anything they would make to support it. So Demetrius suggested that he give Branch a call himself. Great idea, although that idea really should have come from someone at Pebble Pools. There were a few things that Pebble Pools left incomplete and I either A.) was on my own to figure it out (i.e. propane, water line from the house, etc) or B.) had to constantly stay on top of them to figure it out themselves. (bar top, grotto finish, etc). So Demetrius from Colonial Granite called Branch and within twenty minutes Branch was at the house measuring the bar area. Finally something is getting done, its just a shame that someone from a granite company had to make it happen. A few days pass and Demetrius call's me back and tells me he has left numerous messages for Branch but has not gotten a call back. I call Branch and he calls Demetrius back.  In the end it was the responsibility of Pebble Pools and they did take care of it. It just took more footwork on my end to make it happen. Again, that seemed to happen a lot with Pebble Pools. Don't get me wrong, I am happy that I did pick Pebble Pools, but...well more on this later..

Mike sprays down the screening as Diego gets everything to grade. You can also see Shawn and Brian back by the fire bowls working on some electric. You can also see Joe up there by the grotto getting ready to prep the bar top. Busy day!

Bob is prepping the bar top and Steve Harris is working on the bar layout.

Mike is checking out the grotto and assessing how they will paint the top half with the cement material.

The electricians start to run the speaker wires into the house. All the audio will be run through a Sonos system using Sonos Connect Amp's.

The steps heading up to the house start to go in.

I am sure they will add something between the step and the wall to hug it a little tighter. But it looks fantastic! UPDATE: That stone was actually cut wrong. This step will be replaced.

You can see the speaker wires on the post on the left and the new receptacle mounted to the post on the right.

The grotto has a face lift! I am going to have an airbrush artist come in and add some depth, but it looks great so far!

You can see the cement layer Bob laid down for the granite to be placed on for the bar top.

Another busy day tomorrow, but this should all be over this week! IT BETTER BE!!
